How Paintless Dent Repair Actually Works
Paintless dent repair reverses a hail dent instead of covering it. The technician reaches the back of the panel — through a window opening, behind the headliner, under the hood or by removing a trim piece — and uses precision steel tools to press the metal back to its original shape, one dent at a time. A PDR light board is reflected on the panel while he works: when the reflected lines run perfectly straight, the dent is gone. For dents on panel edges or braces that can't be reached from behind, a glue-pull technique lifts the metal from the outside. Nothing is sanded, filled or painted, which is why PDR leaves no record of paint work on your vehicle's history.
What Qualifies for PDR
Almost All Hail Damage
The vast majority of hail-damaged vehicles in Arizona qualify — including cars with 200 to 500 dents across the hood, roof, trunk lid, fenders and doors. Size matters less than paint condition: dents the size of a dime or a golf ball can both be repaired as long as the paint is intact.
Steel, Aluminum and Premium-Vehicle Panels
Aluminum hoods and roofs — common on the premium vehicles we see around Scottsdale — take slower technique and specific tools, but are repaired with PDR every day. We also repair EVs, with the high-voltage precautions their manufacturers require.

When PDR Is Not Enough

We tell you this at the inspection, panel by panel, and coordinate conventional repair for only those panels so the rest of the car keeps its factory paint.
How PDR Is Priced
PDR is priced from an industry matrix based on three things: the panel, the number of dents and their size. Insurers use the same matrix, so the estimate we write is the estimate your adjuster expects to see — there is no incentive to inflate and no surprise at the end. How Long It Takes
Paintless repair is measured in days, not the weeks a repaint takes — there is no sanding, filling, priming or paint curing.
